Thanks. That is the best diagram I have seen yet, but I still cannot find that battery constant. I even tested the remaining wires with a multi-meter with the key out and still no luck. So I was wondering if I could use a bit of heavier wire straight from the positive side of the battery back through the firewall?

So you do not have that color wire? Has the stock radio wire harness been cut before or something?

They are all there, but I can only find twelve volts coming from the black with pink stripe wire with the key on.

Try hooking your yellow wire to the trucks cigar lighter. That should work. Your stock radio may not have been wired to remain on with key off.

Will I still have use of that lighter socket?

Tiny

Yes, I could still check the the time on it and set the clock and my presets would remain.

Okay, just wondering because my truck does not work if I remove key.

Anyways, yes do not remove the wire from the lighter, just splice into it and the lighter will still work fine.

I have a 2001 F150 XLT super crew cab. Trying to find the ground wire for after market FM mp3 stereo. Diagram I found on line says the ground wire is black/light green but there are two wires that match the color. Do I wire both blacks for my ground wire on the radio?

Yes, you can use either ground wire will work.

Please let us know happens so it will help others.

Best, Ken

Do you have the base radio or the premium sound radio?

Here is a schematic of the radio circuit. I cannot seem to find some of the colors you have indicated.

How do I properly hook up my new CD player?

Tiny

You go to the stereo supply store and buy the correct "plug and play" adapter cable. Do not hack up the wiring harness.

Installed a dual XDM6350 radio using wire harnesses. If I hook up the radio illumination wire (solid orange) to constant power the radio works if lights are off. If I hook the wire to switched power, it only works when lights are on, tried every combination I can think of but cannot seem to get constant power no matter what. Also, when orange is hooked to the constant, I have no dash lights. Any suggestions?

Hi Page13,

Thank you for the donation.

What is your original radio specs, base or premium (with amplifier)?
From both types of radio wiring schematics, I am not able to find any solid orange wire.

Do you have the wiring schematics for the new radio that you have installed?
